1881-1882 India Portugueza Goa
Uma Rupia - legal in Ceylon 1892-93

India Portugueza Goa Uma Rupee was made legal tender of Ceylon by Coinage (Ceylon) order of 1892 June 28 and this provision was repealed by Proclamation of 1893 July 17 This Uma Rupia minted in Goa in 1881 and 1882 was legal tender briefly in Ceylon for about one year.

Listed in Second Schedule as the only Foreign Coins of the Proclamation of Queen Victoria on the 6th day of February 1892. They were made legal tender in Ceylon for about a year almost a decade after they were issued in Goa of Portuguese India. About equal numbers of coins minted in 1881 and 1882 for a total mintage of 1,792,901. Rare Prrof-like dated 1885 did not circulate.
