The two wives of Uru Varige Tissahamy, the chief of the Sri Lankan aborigine tribe of the Veddhas, stand by his body May 31 at their village Dhambana in southwestern Badulla district. Tissahamy who was the chief of his tribe for 70 years died last week after a prolonged illness. He was 104. Veddhas are shrinking community which still prefers to live off the land. (Reuters)
