Nivitigala: The dilapidated toilets in Ward 6 of the Kolonna General Hospital has created problems to expectant mothers who come for treatment. For the past three months doctors haven't admitted such patients as a result said the DMO of Kolonna hospital Dr. Parakrama Athauda Seneviratna.

Mamunugama: Gonsalves Cluster Core, MV Pamunugama is still without a laboratory and library complain the parents although Western Province Chief Minister Susil Premajayantha made a promise for them about two years ago.

The minister made the pledge on November 07, 1996.

Hikkaduwa: Pettayaddehi Gnanaratna (49) of Wellaboda, Dodanduwa was drowned while setting off for fishing with two other fellow fishermen, from Dodanduw afishing centre.

They had proceeded several yards when a tidal wave capsized their craft throwining them all into the sea.

Two of them swam to safety but all efforts to save Gnanaratna failed.

The deceased was found entangled in a net, which had fallen into the sea from the craft.

The other two fishermen were saved by 18 year old Wadumestri Sanjaya, who was on the shore at the time.

Hikkaduwa police are inquiring.
