Warakapola: Mr. Anura Bandaranaike, National List MP and Mirigama UNP Organiser said the PA government decided to postpone the provincial council elections as they are fright of suffering defeat. The UNP does not agreed to their postponement move.

Mr. Bandaranaike said so at a series of meetings held at Mirigama, Ganegoda and Henepola.

Mr. Bandaranaike further added that the UNP clamours of a peaceful PC poll leaving no room for innocent voters to face unwanted problems. But the thugs in the present regime will definitely resort to violence to win the election by hook or by crook as they are well aware that the people will never elect them to office for another period. If they resort to thuggery and high handed acts we too will be forced to face similar treatment. At the last PS elections the Mirigama Electorate was won by the PA by an overall majority of 3000 votes and that too was by illicit means. But this time I will not allow them to play the same game.

Mr. Bandaranaike also said that this government in the most inefficient regime elected so far. People who vote for it now course themselves.

Upto date this government has not fulfilled any of the election promises given to the people at the last several elections. Instead of keeping their promises they have only heaped up burdens on the people's shoulders.

Batapola: Sea erosion at Beraliya on the Galle - Colombo road had washed away four coffins from the cemetery into the sea.

The bodies were seen floating. Almost half the cemetery was affected.

Although a stonewall had been build to prevent sea erosion, the washing away had taken place on the unprotected northern side.

Several coconut trees and three houses were also destroyed by the rough sea. But no action has been taken to foil such a situation.

The Fisheries Community Hall which houses the Meetiyagoda police post is also on the verge of being washed away if the situation prevails further.
