  • Emergency rule shatters foreign confidence in Sri Lanka?
    The declaration of a nation-wide state of emergency in Sri Lanka has seriously dented foreign investor confidence and dashed hopes of an early revival or the tourism industry, analysts said.

    The government invoked emergency laws on Tuesday mainly for political reasons rather than due to any real deterioration in security but the move sent negative signals to foreigners, diplomats said.
