appointment of new IGP
Two
senior DIGs opt to retire
Two of the most
senior DIGs in the police are expected to send in
their retirement papers over the appointment of
Senior DIG Lucky Kodituwakku to succeed IGP W.B.
Rajaguru who retires on August 31, high ranking
police sources said.``They
got their papers signed by the outgoing IGP on
Friday and are expected to submit them to the
Defence Secretary on Monday,'' a senior police
source said yesterday.
The two Senior DIGs concerned are Messrs.
Kingsley Wickramasuriya (Intelligence and VIP
Security) and Gamini Gunwardene (Crimes &
Criminal Intelligence). (full story)

demonstrated in Colombo on Friday against US
strikes against targets in Afghanistan and Sudan.
