Air Lanka's Sunday flight will help businessmen

Air Lanka will enhance its services to Madras from today (Sept. 13) adding a night flight on Sunday evening to the total of 13 weekly flights previously operative, an airline announcement said.

The new Sunday flight will depart Colombo at 8.05 p.m. and arrive in Madras at 9 p.m. the same day. The return flight will depart Madras at 10.30 p.m. and arrive in Colombo at 12.25 a.m. on Monday. (All times are local at the respective stations).

Air Lanka said that the new flight will help businessmen wanting to keep early Monday morning appointments either in Madras or Colombo.

Lockheed Tristar equipment seating 240 will be used on the new flight, the airline said. The Airbus 320 will be used on ten Madras flights while the Tristar will be used on four.

"There's a consistent demand for seats on our Madras flights. Travelers include businessmen, students, tourists, people seeking medical attention and passengers flying for shopping or to visit relatives,'' a Air Lanka news release said.

In addition to Madras, Air Lanka serves four other Indian cities - Delhi, Bombay, Trivandrum and Trichy with 25 weekly fights to these destinations.
