| Tiger admits following Gen. Ratwatte From Cyril Wimalasurendre The LTTEer Thirukesivaran (22) from Batticaloa disclosed to police at the Special Investigation Unit (SPU), of the DIG. Headquarters Kandy that he had been instructed by his superiors to murder Gen. Ratwatte at a Kandy school prize giving. Thrillkesivaran confessed that he joined the LTTE cadres in the year 1995. As part of his job training in the LTTE he was given full course training in the use of sophisticated weapons and the use of suicide bomber jacket. He was later admitted to Lakpahana Institute in Talatuoya Police area near Kandy as a residential student. He said he was separated from his parents but on the instructions of the LTTE high command a Tamil couple posed as his parents to admit to Lakpahana Institute and to obtain a forged identity card, as Yogesvaran. However, about five months ago the young man was taken into Police custody on suspicion by the Talatuoya police when he arrived at Talatuoya on his way to Kandy to obtain a driving licence. He was later handed over to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) for further interrogation. After five months Thirukesivaran confessed and his parents from Batticaloa were present at the SIU headquarters yesterday, for identification. Investigations have been conducted by CI. soldiers, TELO cadre killed BATTICALOA - Two soldiers, one TELO cadre and at least one terrorist had been killed in separate incidents in the Batticaloa district on Thursday. Dead soldiers were identified as Lal Weerathunga and Jayasiri Jayaratne. The body of the dead LTTE cadre had been handed over to Eravur hospital. |
