Commission recommends relief for low-users
GST hampers growth of telecommunication sector
Much of the blame on the high cost of the telecommunication sector has been placed on the Goods and Services Tax and this is said to be the reason why there is no rapid growth in modern technology use in the country.

A seventy-member delegation of Japanese Buddhist monks now in Sri Lanka yesterday participated in religious ceremonies at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya to confer merits on the late Thalewela Vijitha Dhammarakkitha Nayake Thera and late Presidents J. R. Jeyewardena and Ranasinghe Premadasa. The head of the Japanese delegation Ven. Iwatsubo Shinko Maha Nayake Thera, chief incumbent of Hadjogi Vihara, Japan carrying the sacred relics and leading the Maha Sangha for the Sanghika dana on the occasion.
