JVP denies any post-polls
arrangement with PA The JVP has
categorically denied a news report that it
intends to use a possible balance of power
position that might emerge at the forthcoming
Northwestern Provincial Council election to help
the PA to form an administration in the Wayamba.
Mr. Bimal Ratnayake, National Organiser
of the Socialist Students Union who is leading
the JVP in the NWPC election denied a report last
week quoting him saying that the JVP would help
the PA to set up an administration in the Wayamba
in return for a powerful portfolio.
It was
freshers day at Royal Primary last week with the
new boys taking their first hesitant steps into a
big school from their previous kindergartens. But
they were having fun soon enough with blue and
gold balloons. Wish the aiyas and akkas at
university could start off this way remarked one
parent. (Pic by Sri Lal Gomes)
Music with a difference All the instruments in the
ensemble are no more than biscuit tins, bamboo sticks,
glass bottles and a big tea chest. The very ordinary
throw away items have been ingeniously transformed into
musical instruments.
