Death Penalty being brought back
The president has
decided that the death penalty, which has not
been carried out in Sri Lanka for the past
several years, will be reapplied for murder and
drug trafficking cases where the courts have
imposed such a sentence, the presidential
secretariat said in a news release yesterday.
These changes are to come into effect
immediately.
