An air conditioned bus belonging to the Eravur CTB depot was completely damaged around 2.00 a.m. yesterday following a time bomb explosion.
The bus an Isuzu vehicle bearing No. 62/8558 was garaged for three days for want of a driver.
The bomb is reported to have been placed under the bus, according to the police.
Two more buses that were alongside the blasted bus were also damaged.
Following this blast the police are questioning two security guards and three mechanics who were on duty according to the officer in charge of the CTB Eravur, M. S. Abdul Ghamy.
Commuters travelling from Eravur to Puttalam and Colombo are now stranded as the service is disrupted.
Polonnaruwa Hospital staff hurt in road mishap

BATTICALOA: Fifteen staff members of the Polonnaruwa hospital met with an accident at Habarana while they were travelling from Anuradhapura to Polonnaruwa after attending a funeral at around 1.30 a.m. on Thursday.
Out of the fifteen who met with the accident fourteen were injured and admitted to Polonnaruwa hospital. Eight of them were seriously injured, hospital sources said.
Investigations revealed the driver of the vehicle was asleep while he was at the wheel.
Habarana police is conducting further investigations.

BATTICALOA: Tigers mounted a grenade attack on the Navatkudah house of Rajan Mylvaganam, Batticaloa district SLFP organiser around 9 pm on Friday, police said.
Mylvaganam and his family however escaped unhurt as policemen guarding his residence opened fire killing one of the attackers. Two hand grenades were found near the body, police said.
The house of the SLFP organiser was slightly damaged in the attack, according to police.
Kattankudy police are investigating.
