Queen Victoria

The first Ceylon postage stamp was issued on 1st April 1857.
The imperferate 6d. purple brown on blued paper with the "Star" watermark.
The design depicted the left profile of the head of Queen Victoria
engraved by Willium Humphries after the drawing by Edward Corbould.
