In 1813 a copper Quarter Pice coin of a very small number was issued.

Obverse : A beaded circle between two plain circles around C.G. above 1813 with a line in between; (Ceylon .Government)
Reverse : A beaded circle between two plain circles around PI¼CE

It is not listed in Codrington, as it had been previously attributed to the East India Company in Bengal Presidency. Probably of an experimental nature, specimens are extremely rare, but have been found in Colombo, Pettah.

Pridmore collection (Glendining & Co Auction 1982 October 18th, London lot#36) sold for GBP350.(+10% buyers premium).
The Dick Ford collection (in Taisei-Baldwin-Gillio Auction#19 1995 February 23 Singapore lot#173) sold for hammer price of US$1,800/-.(+10% buyers premium).

Maybe some lucky day I will find this coin. Until such time the 300 dpi scan is a colorized rendering of the image in Pridmore. This image is used in the 3rd Edition of the Krause 19th century Volume, which had not illustrated this coin previously. <
