Gerald Rosenberg of Ceylon MN who has sent me most of the information
on this website says
My Grandma Bertha Simon was born in 1883 - Her older brother Henry
1871 - so the time frame fits. In 1922 Henry Simon built a new home on
Clear Lake, Ceylon. Henry's son Louis born 1899, would have grown up
when Ceylon was in it's early years - lots went on in that time frame
so chance are He might have had a small saloon or cafe. In 1928 Louis
married Hilda Schueler and their son Loyd was born in 1930. In 1935
Louis returned to residence in Ceylon. His wife cooked school lunches
for many years in the 50's. Think Louis got hurt loading livestock
and died in 1966. One of Louie's bad habits, at least when I knew him
- Adult beverages - too many!
When this old Red Neck was growing up, Louie - again was a good
trapper - could catch those rather clever mink - and in those days fur
was a rather good price - He would never share with me his method!
Had a trap-line myself during high school - Made enough to buy me a
nice 22 cal pistol - still in my collection - was my pride and joy
growing up.
