It was decided by Resolution of 1789 May 19th to strike 20,000 Troy pounds (494.0942 grams) of Doits of an alloy of 2/3 lead, 1/6 tin and 1/6 spelter (tutenag), each of weight 6.175 grams. Allowing for a melting loss of 14% it was expected that this would produce 1,376,000 pieces.
All coins of this year are listed as rare (R) in Scholten. In newer coins of 1792-1793 the value was written as DUIT rather than DT
