Obverse: Crowned city arms of Zutphen: Lion rampant to left, with
cross under division below divides value 6 S (6 Stuivers).
Year of issue 1 6 9 1 divided by top of crown.
Along periphery within dash circle Latin legend: MO·NO·ARG·CIV·ZVTPHANIA. Expands to
Moneta Nova Argenta City Zutphen.
Translation: "New Silver coin of the City of Zutphen".
Reverse: Knight on horseback galloping right, holds a sword
upright.
Along periphery Latin legend: CONCORDIA·RES·PARVÆ·CRESCVNT., with mint mark Antlers,
along periphery within dash circle.
Translates to "In harmony small things grow" (Sallust, Roman historian).
Codrington X§26 Schelling(v) calls them Staten or Plakaat
Schelling but describes them as having a knight on horseback.
He lists coins from United Provinces
Utrecht 1679, 1680, 1691; Kampen 1691; Deventer 1686 1690; and Zutphen
are found in in Lanka.
The date which is not clear in scan needed to be read
under 10X magnification of original coin on which it is clearer.
