Mint mark shield just left of sword. Expands to
Moneta Nova Argenta Confœderatum Belgicarum Provinciarum Hollandiae.
Translation: "Silver coin of the Confederation of Belgium and province of Holland".
Reverse: Crowned shield with general Coat of Arms of Netherlands:
Rampant lion left with 7 arrows (united provinces) in left paw and a
sword (the defender) in right. Supported by standing lions facing
forward on either side. Year of issue 1772 in cartouche below.
Along periphery Latin legend: CONCORDIA RES PARVÆ CRESCUNT.
along periphery within dash circle. Rose on top.
Translates to "In harmony small things grow" (Sallust, Roman historian).
Codrington X§26 Ducatoons whole and half from 1659 from United Provinces
milled coins and usually from 1740 to 1780 are found in Lanka.
The VF condition coin was scanned at 600 dpi and displayed at
150 dpi.
It was won in 2002 Februry on eBay from a dealer in USA.
