A private mint in Sri Lanka since 1996, with the technology and expertise to manufacture high quality coins, including custom minting for many large corporates. In collaboration with Perth Mint developed a series of proof quality coins on Ethnic Themes @. I remember them marketed through local Banks around 2007.
In April 2014, Gold & Jewelry Salon was opened at Abans Elite Kollupitiya by Chairperson of Abans Mrs. Pestonjee and Mr. Hiran Karunaratne, Managing Director of Gold Corporation Lanka (Pvt), which is backed by Gold Corporation Australia, an organization enacted by the Western Australian Government for refining and marketing of bullion products worldwide @.
On 2013 April 1st domain gcl.lk was registered. The website is longer online and the domain registration had expired in 2015 April @. The website illustrated examples of ten medal types in gold and some of them in silver with mostly religious themes. The three non religious medals were marked "Minted For" rather than "Manufactured by" and maybe older. Also showed gold medals minted for eight corporates in Sri Lanka.
I was able to contact them over the phone in 2016 May, but attempts to visit their Mint to get a medal struck for the 40th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Numismatic Society failed.
The bullion Half Sovereign was scanned at 600 dpi and displayed at 300 dpi. It was a Birthday gift from my wife Lidwina in 2013.
