Although not seen in circulation this coin is legal tender and is not released by the Central Bank except on special request. It is notable to have been minted in 1994 when its value was 1/50 of a US cent.

A fantasy of the 1978 issue was listed in the 1999 Krause catalog as a pattern, and now listed as a Probable fantasy Piece on information provided to Krause, from this site, and on our request by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
